We've just sent the launch issue of National Geographic Traveller India to press and it reaches the stands on the 1st of July. The editorial and design team at Nat Geo Traveller is super excited to connect with you, the community through this team blog. We hope that you will read our magazine and our blog, and be inspired by stories.
Here's a quick round up of our quirky little team, most of whom have promised to contribute to this blog. Deputy Editor Neha Dara is the kind of person who is most blissfully happy when exploring the depths of ocean in constricting scuba gear. Of late she's discovered a new love, and has been caught day dreaming about all the treks she wants to do in the next three years.
Diviya Mehra is our Art Director who thinks she might have been a gypsy in her previous life because photographs of different people and cultures make her feel very much at home.
Our Photo Editor Ashima Narain is a shutterbug who is so curious about new places and capturing their stories in pictures, that she will wake up before dawn even on holiday. This usually annoys her travelling companions, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do.
Mihika Pai is our Associate Editor who loves the US and Thailand and thinks both countries owe her honorary citizenship. In her spare time she's either escaping mentally to Manhattan and Phi Phi, watching cute cat videos on Youtube, rescuing baby animals, or pinning on Pinterest.
Senior Features Writer Natasha Sahgal is not only Mumbai's couchsurfing host queen, she would rather sleep in a stranger's house or the forest floor, than check-in to a hotel. When she's not counting birds or tigers, she's usually looking for the closest circus crew.
Azeem Banatwalla is both the Junior Features writer and resident oxymoron; he appears introverted and shy but his interests are not. Whenever he can get away form the office he catches a game of football on Juhu Beach or moonlights as a budding stand-up comic.
Senior Graphic Designer Devang Makwana is the design team's technically sound rock of Gibraltor. Everyone thought he only ate gujju food, until one day we order Chinese noodles at the office, and discovered a new side to him. Omna Winston Senior Graphic Designer is the official party animal of the team. She loves laksa and considers Singapore her second home.
And that leaves me, Niloufer Venkatraman, serendipitiously the editor of this fabulous travel magazine, who tries to keep this motley crew together through storm and calm. I am keeping my fingers crossed that some day soon, I can assign myself a travel story and let someone else take care of the office.
