The lunch buffet is packed with ‘suits’ and ‘IT types’ from neighbouring business parks. Food is plentiful and uniformly good, with a selection of Indian and international dishes guaranteed to please everyone. I’m at The Creek, the all-day restaurant at The Den, a luxury business hotel that opened in the heart of Whitefield, Bengaluru earlier this year.
The Den’s 22-storey glass-and-chrome façade is already a landmark in the IT hub. With 226 rooms, including 4 suites, the hotel is an ideal stay option for business travellers as well as for traffic-weary Bengaluru residents looking for a staycation.
My Den Corner Room is spacious and filled with natural light coming in through the bay windows that take up two entire walls. The room has a contemporary look, done up in shades of brown and some interesting design features like the vintage leather trunk converted into a chest of drawers. The open-plan bathroom is massive, with both a shower area and a bathtub.
Apart from The Creek, the hotel has a delicatessen and a cold press juice bar. The trendy lounge bar called The Nest is quite chic with its brown panelling and plush, sapphire-toned seating. A club floor with lounge facilities was launched earlier this year and Layla, a rooftop Mediterranean restaurant opened doors this month.
Work off the calories at the outdoor infinity pool or the hotel’s well-equipped gym, The Studio. The Sanctuary offers a range of spa therapies and massages. Unwind at The Play House, which has a pool table, video game consoles, and a couple of cool digital table tops where you can play vintage arcade games. Catch up on your favourite Netflix/Amazon series at The Cave, which provides a private cinema experience, complete with a tub of popcorn at your side.
The Den is located on ITPB Main Road in Whitefield, Bengaluru. It is 38 km/1 hr 15 mins from the airport (www.denhotels.com; doubles from Rs7,000, excluding tax).
