In the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, Yercaud is nestled at an altitude of 1515 metres. Doused in verdant greenery, the most climactic entry into the hill station is through a road trip, cutting through over 20 hairpin bends. As misty forests enchant one along the scenic drive, Yercaud’s Emerald Lake offers an opportunity for a quiet relaxation. Yercaud is an anglicized name for “Yeri Kadu” or Tamil for “forest lake”. But over and above the lake experience, visitors may hike up to the Lady Seat to catch a panoramic view of the valley, spend a day at the Botanical Garden and Rose Garden, explore the ancient castles and temples and hike to a mystical waterfall.
