How to freelance for National Geographic Traveller India

The proposal:

Please do not simply pitch destinations, pitch an angle or a story. Don’t include a manuscript—just send us a brief, well-researched paragraph about your idea(s). Let us know if you travelled on a press trip, accepted discounts, or received hosting of any kind. Include links and/or clips to your recent publications to show you are the right person for the job. Due to the volume of responses, we cannot provide feedback for every pitch.

Areas of Interest:

-Destination itineraries, comprehensive city/food/culture guides, seasonal journeys, wildlife/nature, unique trails and thematic adventures.

-Pitches from India, showcasing regions/cultures we haven’t covered before.

-Travel-related news features that explore the latest developments, breakthrough trends or human interest stories from around the world.

-Experts who can provide explainers on how to travel across a region, how to be mindful of sustainability while travelling, how to see a place like a local.

-Visual stories/essays through different places.

-Longform pitches must have interesting hooks or angles and should be accompanied with a strong background in writing.

What we don’t want

– Pitches without an angle

– Hotel or property reviews

– Pitches focussed on a branding or marketing premise
